MY NAME IS AN EIGHTH GRADER AT JUNIOR HIGH THIS MONTH, WE MOVED FROM LEXINGTON , KENTUCKY TO SERVE A LOCAL CHURCH NINE YEARS AGO AS THE CHURCH IS LOCATED IN INDIANAPOLIS AND FISHERS WE COULD HAVE CHOSEN TO LIVE ANYWHERE, WE MOVED TO HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE SCHOOLS. OUR DAUGHTER HAS HAD ONLY GREAT TEACHERS WHO TAKE THEIR VOCATION, THEIR CALLING SERIOUSLY. THEIR FOCUS HAS BEEN SOLELY ON STUDENT SUCCESS WHICH REACHES BEYOND TEST SCORES BUT INCLUDES SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING AS TEACHERS MUST ALSO BE SEL PROVIDERS AS WELL ESPECIALLY NOW. COVID AFFECTED US ALL AND YET TEACHERS PIVOTED AND PROVIDED THE BEST LEARNING ENVIRONMENT POSSIBLE GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND , WORKING WELL BEFORE AND WELL PAST THE BELL. THE GRACE THAT TEACHERS AND STAFF HAVE SHOWN OUR DAUGHTER AND THE GRID AND DETERMINATION INSTILLED IS INDICATIVE OF THE DEDICATION AND PASSION OF OUR EDUCATORS.

THEY DO NOT DO THE JOB FOR THE MONEY. AS IS EVIDENCED IN THE JUNE PAYROLL. THOSE WHO EARN WELL BEYOND DOUBLE THE MAJORITY OF THOSE ON THE PAYROLL AND BOARD MEMBERS SHOULD BE PROUD AND CELEBRATE OUR TEACHERS, PERIOD. TEACHERS SHOULD BEGIN RESOURCES SO THEY ARE NOT STRESSED PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, FINANCIALLY. THEY AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON PENCILS, ERASERS, DRY ERASE MARKERS, BLEACH WIPES, YET THOSE AND THOSE WHO TRULY SUPPORT TEACHERS SHOW UP AND GET OUT OF THEIR OWN TREASURE, NOT TO MENTION THEIR TIME AND TALENT. >> HELLO SCHOOL BOARD, SUPERINTENDENT, TONIGHT I AM SPEAKING ABOUT AGENDA ITEM 3.03 I AM SPEAKING ABOUT AGENDA ITEM 3.032 WEEKS AGO MANY OF US IN THIS ROOM THOUGHT WE WERE ATTENDING A SPEECH ABOUT THE VISION FROM THE NEW SUPERINTENDENT FOR OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT, INSTEAD IT WAS A OPEN FORUM FOR NASTY INSINUATIONS ABOUT FORMER EMPLOYEES AND A FLEX TO CONTINUE FEAR TACTICS DIRECTED AT TEACHERS, I NOTICED IN SPENDING INCREASED TO OUR ATTORNEY'S PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. I WOULD ASK FOR CLARIFICATION ON THOSE CHARGES, BUT I ALREADY KNOW THIS BOARD AND ADMINISTRATION ARE ANYTHING BUT TRANSPARENT WITH THIS COMMUNITY. I KNOW THE ADDITIONAL FEES ARE LIKE HE RELATED TO THE PENDING LEGAL ISSUES THIS ADMINISTRATION AND BOARD HAVE CAUSED. THE BEHAVIORS AND APPROACH THIS BOARD HAS ALLOWED AND ENCOURAGED ARE COSTING US THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND POTENTIALLY EVEN MORE EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATORS. OUR SCHOOLS WERE PERFORMING WELL LONG BEFORE THIS BOARD OR SUPERINTENDENT CAME HOWEVER MANY OF THE PEOPLE IN THE CLASSROOMS AND BUILDINGS HAVE DEVOTED YEARS TO OUR COMMUNITY AND CHILDREN CONTRARY TO WHAT WAS SAID IN THE LAST MEETING THEY DO NOT NEED TO FIND A JOB AND LIFE SATISFACTION FROM TEST SCORES OR CHILDREN SUCCESS. THOSE ASPECTS HELP ENCOURAGE THEM, BUT JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD THEY DESERVE ADEQUATE COMPENSATION FOR THE TIME, TALENTS, EDUCATION AND DEDICATION TO THIS DISTRICT. THEY DESERVE RESPECT FROM LEADERS AND TO BE TREATED AS THE PROFESSIONALS THAT THEY

ARE. THEY MOST DEFINITELY DO NOT DESERVE A LEADER WHO TALKS DISRESPECTFULLY ABOUT THEM AS THEY HAD TO WITNESS AT THE LAST MEETING. OUR COMMUNITIES HAVE COME TOGETHER TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHERS OF HSE, WE WILL CELEBRATE THEM IN A COMMUNITY SPONSORED TEACHER APPRECIATION NIGHT ON FRIDAY BECAUSE THAT IS HOW YOU EXPRESS APPRECIATION, GRATITUDE AND RESPECT FOR WHAT TEACHERS DO FOR OUR COMMUNITY. SADLY WE HAVE TEACHERS AFRAID OF PUBLICLY ACCEPTING INVITATION TO THIS EVENT SUPPORTED BY MANY PEOPLE THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY FROM FEAR OF RETALIATION FROM THIS ADMINISTRATION. STOP FIGHTING OUR TEACHERS, TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT, STOP SPENDING LEGAL FEES FOR A PROBLEM YOUR CREATING AND CONTINUE PUSHING. >> GOOD EVENING. MY NAME IS ABBY TAYLOR AND I AM THE HSE PRESIDENT. ON TONIGHT'S CONSENT AGENDA THE BOARD IS VOTING TO APPROVE DISTRICT SPENDING ON PAYMENTS TO A VARIETY OF VENDORS, I WANT TO FOCUS ON ONE PART OF THIS SPENDING SPECIFICALLY THE LEGAL FEES INCURRED BY THE DISTRICT.

INSTEAD OF WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH HSEA, THE EXCLUSIVE VOICE OF TEACHERS TO RESOLVE ISSUES TO THE MUTUALLY BENEFIT OF THE DISTRICT, TEACHERS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY STUDENTS THE DISTRICT HAS CHOSEN TO TURN A DEAF EAR TO THE TEACHERS WHO WORK MOST DIRECTLY WITH STUDENTS. AS IT RELATES TO THE MOUNTING LEGAL FEES THE DISTRICT WENT ONE STEP FURTHER CHOOSING TO BREAK THE LAW AND TRAMPLING ON LEGAL RIGHTS OF TEACHERS. IN DOING SO, TEACHERS WERE LEFT WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO SEEK TO ENFORCE THEIR RIGHTS BY FILING AN UNFAIR LABOR COMPLAINT INSTEAD OF WORKING WITH HSEA TO SOLVE ISSUES IMPACTING SCHOOLS THE SCHOOL DISTRICT ESCALATED TO AND THE HIGH-PRICED ATTORNEYS ONLY INCREASING THE SPENDING ON LEGAL FEES WHILE DIVERTING MONEY FROM THE CLASSROOM. THIS RUNS COUNTER TO EVERYTHING THE COMMUNITY WAS TOLD IN NOVEMBER, 2022 . TO NOT WORK WITH HSEA TO COME TO A RESOLUTION PRIOR TO LEGAL ACTION IS NEITHER FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE OR RESPONSIBLE. THE FIRST IS SCHOOLS HEALTHCARE SERVICES AGREEMENT WHEREBY COMMUNITY PROVIDES SUPPORT TO THE SCHOOL CORPORATION FOR TWO COURSE SERVICES. NURSING SCHOOL PROGRAM AS WELL AS SPORTS MEDICINE PROGRAM. WITH RESPECT TO NURSING, COMMUNITY PROVIDES AT LEAST ONE SCHOOL NURSE AT EACH BUILDING. BASED ON LAST YEAR'S SERVICE LEVELS THAT IS EQUATED TO APPROXIMATELY 29 FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME NURSES IN ALL OF OUR BUILDINGS. TWO PERMANENT FLOATING NURSES AND FIVE SUBSTITUTE NURSES AS NEEDED. COMMUNITY EXPECTS THAT SAME LEVEL OF SERVICE TO BE GIVEN THIS YEAR SO THERE IS NO CHANGE IN THAT. THE COST OF THE NURSING SERVICE PROGRAM IS LARGELY BORNE BY COMMUNITY WHICH INCLUDES ASSESSING TEACHING, TREATING AND ADMINISTERING THE CARE OF ALL HEALTH CONDITIONS. WE OF COURSE PAY FOR THE DIRECTOR OF HEALTH AND ADDITIONALLY SHARE THE COST WITH RESPECT TO STALKING EMERGENCY MEDICATIONS IN ALL THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS. THAT IS THE NURSING PROGRAM, WITH RESPECT TO THE SPORTS MEDICINE PROGRAM, COMMUNITY PROVIDES SIX ATHLETIC TRAINERS, TWO AT EACH EYE SCHOOL AND TWO COVERING JUNIOR HIGHS , AS WELL AS STRENGTH COACHES FOR THE HIGH SCHOOLS. THE SCHOOL PAYS FOR TWO ADDITIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINERS TO BE SHARED AMONGST THE JUNIOR HIGH LEVEL. SERVICES PROVIDED BY COMMUNITY INCLUDE ON-SITE PHYSICIAN COVERAGE FOR SELECTED SPORTING EVENTS, WEEKLY INJURY CHECKS, ET CETERA THE ONLY SIGNIFICANT CHANGE WITH EITHER CONTRACT IS REALLY JUST THE TERM. UNDER OUR CURRENT CONTRACT WE JUST ENDED A THREE-YEAR ARRANGEMENT WITH COMMUNITY FOR BOTH OF THE SERVICES. WE HAVE AGREED TO EXTEND THE CONTRACT FOR AN ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR TERM SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO REVIEW THE PROGRAM WITHIN ALL BUILDINGS BEFORE BRINGING BACK A BIGGER OR LONGER TERM CONTRACT. WE PILOTED THREE VENDORS IN EACH OF THE CLASSROOMS OF THOSE TEACHERS ON THAT COMMITTEE AND WE ENDED UP WITH MCGRAW-HILL, INDIANA INSPIRE SCIENCE. THERE IS THAT RATIONALE FOR THE SELECTION. IT DOES COVER THE MAJORITY OF THE STANDARDS WHICH WAS A PRIORITY FOR THE COMMITTEE. AND WE ARE ASKING FOR YOUR APPROVAL.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PASSION ATTRIBUTES OF THE PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE, JOURNEY OF A STUDENT SUPPORTING TALENT NEEDED IN THE REGION, STATE AND COUNTRY. WE HAVE ENGAGED A TON OF ECONOMIC STAKEHOLDERS IN THIS WORK , THEY HAVE BEEN PART ENVISIONING THIS AND THAT'S WHERE WE WILL POINT TOWARD ONE OF THE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TALENT RETENTION OPPORTUNITIES IN OUR COMMUNITY. 11 DISTRICTS ARE PART OF THE GRANT, ALL COUNTY DISTRICTS ACCEPT NOBLESVILLE IN THE GRANT JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT.
