>> GOOD EVENING EVERYONE. FOR THE RECORD, CHRIS GREISL, I JUST PLAN ON GOING THROUGH SOME OF THE BASIC TERMS OF THE ADDENDUM FUR TONIGHT AND THAT'S IN THE REGULAR TEACHER'S CONTRACT BEFORE YOU OPEN UP TO THE STATUETORIAL REQUIRED PUBLIC HEARING AND THEN APPROVAL.

SO TONIGHT'S AGREEMENT THAT'S BEFORE YOU, IS FOR A THREE-YEAR CONTRACT. FROM APRIL 29TH,2026 CONCLUDING ON APRIL 29TH 2029. THE CONTRACT TERM HAS A PROVISION IN THERE FOR AN AUTOMATIC EXTENSION BEGINNING DECEMBER 31 OF 2027 AND THEN AGAIN EACH SUCCESSIVE DECEMBER 31 THEREAFTER UNLESS A PARTY GIVES NOTICE PRE SEEDING DECEMBER 31ST. WITH RESPECT TO SALARY AND BENEFITS. THE SALARY THAT'S BEEN PROVIDED IS $206,250 EXCUSE ME. THE BOARD HAS PROPOSED TO PAY A MAX PUM ANNUAL EMPLOYEE ELECTED SALARY CONTRIBUTION INCLUDING THE APPLICABLE PICK-UP AMOUNTS UNDER SECTION 403D.

THERE IS A $750 ALLOTMENT FOR CAR ALLOWANCE.

AND A LIFE INSURANCE TERM POLICY WHICH IS TWO TIMES THE BASE SALARY. AND I WOULD NOTE FOR THE BOARD ON THE PROPOSED CONTRACT THAT'S ONLINE RIGHT NOW.

AND BEFORE YOU HEAR TONIGHT THERE IS A BIT OF A TYPO.

THE LIFE INSURANCE AND THE AMOUNT OF TWO TIMES THE BASE SALARY IS CORRECT. THE CONTRACTUAL AMOUNT LISTED THERE IS A FORMER SALARY WHICH NEEDS TO NOW REFLECT $412,500 ALLOTMENT. AND WITH YOUR PERMISSION AND APPROVAL TONIGHT, WE'LL GO AHEAD AND MAKE THAT CHANGE.

JUST TO REFLECT THAT. THE SUPER INTENDANT'S ENTITLE TO THE SAME BENEFIT PACKAGES AS OTHER ADMINISTRATORS WITH EXCEPTION OF THE SUPER INTENDANT BEING ABLE TO BUY BACK CERTAIN SICK DAYS THAT'S OUTLINED IN THE PROVISIONS AS THE AGREEMENT AS WELL. THE ATTENDOM ALSO HAS ATTACHED TO IT NOR FRONT OF IT THE REGULAR TEACHER'S CONTRACT FOR DR. KEGLEY TO COINCIDE WITH THAT.

TYLER ZERBEY HSCA PRESIDENT. I AM HERE TONIGHT TO SPEAK ON THE SUPERINTENDANT CONTRACT THAT WILL BE PRESENTED.

HSCA WELCOMES THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH DR. KEGLEY AS SUPER INTENDANT OF HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN SCHOOLS.

HE HAS BEEN PART OF THIS SCHOOL COMMUNITY FOR MANY YEARS.

MAKING HIS WAY FROM ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL ALL THE WAY TO CENTRAL OFFICE. HE IS SOMEONE WITH WHOM UNION LEADERSHIP HAS HISTORICALLY HAD COLLABORATION AND COLLOQUIALITY AND ONE WE FEEL WANTS TO BE SUPPORTIVE OF STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ALIKE. THAT BEING SAID, IT IS DIFFICULT TO OVERLOO THE LAST 26 MONTHS HERE AT HSC.

HOWEVER, WE ARE OPTIMIST TOCK WE CAN CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD TOGETHER. WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT WITH HIS HIRING BRINGS THE RETIGER OF HIS CURRENT DEPUTY SUPER INTENDANT ROLE ALLOWING FOR THE FIRST OF MANY COST SAVING MOVES

AT CENTRAL OFFICE AS OPPOSED TO CUTTING COSTS THROUGH ADDITIONAL TEACHER LAY-OFFS. FURTHER MORE WE ACKNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATE THE SHIFT IN TONE OVER THE PAST MONTH AND WE HOPE THAT IT WILL CONTINUE. WE KNOW THAT HSCA AND ADMINISTRATION WILL NOT ALWAYS SEE EYE TO EYE BUT WE HOPE THAT A RELATIONSHIP BUILT ON ROPTING TEACHER VOICE CAN ONCE AGAIN BE SEEN AT CENTRAL OFFICE. MOVING FORWARD, HSCA WOULD ALSO LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ADVOCATE FOR A BOARD POLICY THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR AN OPEN SEARCH AND HIRING PROCESS OF OUR SUPER INTENDANT. AS WE HAVE COME TO LEARN THE ROLE OF SUPER INTENDANT INVOLVES RELATIONSHIPS WITH MULTIPLE STAKEHOLDERS. TEACHERS, SUPPORT STAFF.

BUILDING AND CENTRAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATION IN AND OUT OF DISTRICT PARENTS AND FAMILIES. COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND LOCAL LEADERS. WHEN THOSE RELATIONSHIPS AREN'T BUILT OR RESPECTED, THE ENTIRE DISTRICT SUFFERS.

FOR THAT REASON, WE FEEL IT IS CRUCIAL THAT THE SUPER INTENDANT IS CHOSEN BASED ON ENGAGEMENT AND INPUT FROM ALL OF THOSE STAKEHOLDERS. FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, WE ARE GRATEFUL DR. KEGLEY HAS BAN KEY MEMBER IN THIS DISTRICT ALREADY AND HAS ESTABLISHED AND MAINTAIN MANIED OF THOSE IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS. TO DR. KEGLEY, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR APPOINTMENT AS SUPERINTENDENT.

WHILE WE MAY NOT AGREE ON EVERY ISSUE, I BELIEVE WE CAN AGREE ON THE NEED FOR STABILITY, STRONG LEADERSHIP AND A CLEAR FOCUS ON STUDENTS. MATT KEGLEY BRINGS A DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF THIS DISTRICT, ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS AND A STEADY HAND AT A TIME WHEN CONSISTENCY MATTERS.

I VALUE ACCOUNTABILITY, LOCAL LEADERSHIP AND RESULTS.

I BELIEVE DR. KEGLEY IS WELL POSITIONED TO DELIVER ON THOSE PRINCIPALS WHILE HELPING MOVE OUR DISTRICT FORWARD IN A PRACTICAL STUDENT-CENTRED WAY. THIS VOTE IS ABOUT PROVIDING OUR SCHOOLS WITH LEADERSHIP THAT CAN UNIFY, STABILIZE AND FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS MOST. STUDENTS' SUCCESS.

FOR THOSE REASONS, I WILL BE SUPPORTING DR. KEGLEY AS OUR NEXT SUPER INTENDANT. THANK YOU.

HE BRINGS EXPERIENCE, STABILITY AND THE DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF THIS DISTRICT THAT CANNOT BE REPLICATED.

HE HAS SERVED OUR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY IN MULTIPLE ROLES OVER THE YEARS FROM BUILDING LEADERSHIP TO DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION. AND HAS CONSISTENTLY DEMONSTRATED THOUGHTFUL STEADY LEADERSHIP.

HE KNOWS OUR STUDENTS, OUR STAFF, OUR FAMILIES, HE'S ALREADY EARNED THEIR TRUST. THAT KIND OF CONTINUITY MATTERS. ESPECIALLY AT A TIME WHEN MANY DISTRICTS ARE FACING DISRUPTION.

WE'RE IN A POSITION TO MOVE FORWARD WITH CONFIDENCE.

I ALSO WANT TO BRIEFLY ADDRESS CONCERNS THAT HAVE BEEN RAISED ABOUT BOTH PROCESS AND COMPENSATION.

THESE ARE IMPORTANT TOPICS AND THEY DESERVE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. THIS BOARD HAS DONE EXACTLY THAT BY FOLLOWING ALL APPLICABLE LAWS, BOARD POLICIES AND GUIDANCE OF LEGAL COUNCIL THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS.

THE CONTRACT BEFORE US REFLECTS CAREFUL CONSIDERATION AND ALIGNS WITH WHAT WE SEE IN COMPARABLE DISTRICTS.

IN FACT WHEN VIEWED IN THE CONTEXT OF A DISTRICT THIS SIZE AND COMPLEXITY, IT IS CONSERVATIVE.

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE LEADER OF A $340 MILLION ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBLE FOR MORE THAN 2,000 EMPLOYEES AND 20,000 STUDENTS.

THAT LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY REQUIRES STRONG EXPERIENCED LEADERSHIP. AND IT IS APPROPRIATE THAT COMPENSATION REFLECTS THAT REALITY.

DR. KEGLEY IS WELL DESERVING OF BOTH THE TERMS AND THE VALUE OF

THIS CONTRACT. IT IS ALSO WORTH NOTING THAT MANY HAVE RAISED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROCESS EXPRESSED WHO HAVE RAISED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROCESS HAS EXPRESSED SUPPORT OF DR. KEGLEY HIMSELF. THAT REFLECTS SHARED UNDERSTANDING THAT HE IS WELL QUALIFIED AND WELL PREPARED TO LEAD THIS DISTRICT. WHERE WE MAY-- WHERE THERE MAY BE DIFFERENCES OF OPINION IS IN HOW WE LOOK AT THE PROCESS.

THERE IS CONVERSATION WE CONTINUE TO HAVE BUT SHOULD NOT DISTRACT FROM THE STRENGTH OF THE CANDIDATER TO DECISION IN FRONT OF US TONIGHT. OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO ACT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF STUDENTS AND THE LONG-TERM SUCCESS OF THE DISTRICT. I BELIEVE THIS APPOINTMENT DOES

I'VE SERVED ALONGSIDE HIM FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS IN THIS ROLE IN BOARD CAPACITY AND AS A PARENT IN THE COMMUNITY WITH MY OLDER TWO CHILDREN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE HIM AS THEIR PRINCIPAL AT HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN SCHOOLS. I KNOW HE STEPPED INTO THIS ROLE IN THE INTERIM ROLE PRIOR TO THIS TWICE.

WITH GRACE, WITH FORTITUDE. AND WITHOUT HESITATION.

AND TAKEN ON TOUGH ROLES, TOUGH SITUATIONS.

AND NOT ONLY WORKING WITH THIS DISTRICT BUT THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE. THIS WILL BE I BELIEVE YOUR THIRD REFERENDUM POTENTIALLY. THAT MAY COME FORWARD.

AND IT IS NOT WITHOUT SAYING THE IMPORTANT ROLE THAT A LEADER OF THIS DISTRICT HAS IN NOT ONLY THE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE WHICH ARE SUBSTANTIAL.

BUT ALSO THE PARENTS, THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS ACROSS THIS DISTRICT. AND HE ABSOLUTELY BRINGS THAT STRONGHOLD FORWARD FOR THIS DISTRICT AND I LOOK FORWARD TO

WORKING WITH HIM GOING FORWARD. >> THANK YOU.

>> AS WE ARRIVE AT THIS IMPORTANT MOMENT IT IS IMPORTANT TO BRIEFLY REFLECT ON THE JOURNEY THAT HAS BROUGHT US HERE. WE ARE ALSO MINDFUL OF THE BROADER CONVERSATION WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.

WHY THERE HAVE BEEN CONCERNS EXPRESSED, BY SOME REGARDING ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE, PARTICULARLY DURING A TIME OF FISCAL CONSTRAINT, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE BOARD HAS CONSISTENTLY DEMONSTRATED ITS COMMITMENT TO THOUGHTFUL GOVERNANCE INCLUDING ITS FULL SUPPORT OF ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACTS AT THE MARCH 11TH MEETING.

WITH THAT CONTEXT, WE ARE PLEASED TO HIGHLIGHT THAT THE AGREEMENT BEFORE US TONIGHT BOTH REFLECTS FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY AND STRATEGIC AWARENESS IN COMPARESEN TO PRIOR STRUCTURES AND BASED ON THE CURRENT ORGANIZATIONAL CONFIGURATION. THE DISTRICT CURRENTLY REALIZING AND ANNUAL SAVINGS OF $280,895.

SAVINGS US THAT WE HAVE BY REMOVING THE DEPUTY SUPER INTENDANT AT ROLE. AND THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SUPERINTENDENT STRUCTURE THAT WE HAVE CURRENTLY.

THAT'S A HUGE SAVINGS. FOR THE SAKE OF TRANSPARENCY I WOULD LIKE TO BRIEFLY REVISIT THE TIMELINE THAT HAS GUIDED US THROUGH THIS PROCESS. ON MARCH 2ND MR. RAIPS FORMALLY ANNOUNCED HIS--. AND MRFRN 11TH DR. KEGLEY APPOINTED DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT.

BOARD CONVENED SESSIONS APRIL 2ND AND AGAIN APRIL 22ND TO CAREFULLY CONSIDER NEXT STEPS. THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS, WE REMAIN COMMITTED TO TRANSPARENCY AND DUE DILIGENCE.

WE THOUGHTFULLY REVIEWED AND RESPONDED TO TWO COUNTERS.

AND ENSURING THAT ALL LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS WERE ADDRESSED AND THE BOARD FEEDBACK WAS INCORPORATED AT EACH STAGE.

THE DELIBERATE APPROACH LED US TO THE AGREEMENT NOW BEFORE US.

AND ALSO DO WANT TO NOTE THAT THERE WAS A REQUEST FROM THE BOARD MEMBER TO CHANGE THE ORDER TO VOTE THAT WAS TAKEN ON TONIGHT'S AGENDA REGARDING THE 4.01 SUPERINTENDENT CONTRACT.

AND IMPORTANCE OF RULES TO EITHER GO IN ORDER OF SEEDED POSITION OR ALPHABETICALLY. UNLESS WE HAVE A POLICY THAT STATES OTHERWISE. A BOARD MEMBER AT THE TIME OF VOTE CAN VOTE TO ABSTAIN WHEN HIS OR HER NAME IS CALLED.

AND ALL OF THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE HERE AT HSC. MY KIDS HERE TONIGHT ALL THREE GRADUATES FROM HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN HIGH SCHOOL.

THEY ARE PROBABLY NOT FIRED UP ABOUT MY RED TIE.

I'M SUPPORTING IU HOOSIERS WHICH A WEEK FROM SATURDAY I'LL HAVE THREE GRADUATES FROM THERE.
