[00:00:02] IT IS SIX [1. Meeting Opening] O'CLOCK AND WE'LL CALL THIS MEETING TO ORDER. PLEASE ALL RISE FOR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AS WE START OUR AGENDA TONIGHT. WE HAVE, [2. Award Presentation] UM, ITEM TWO ON OUR AGENDA IS THE HAGERMAN AWARD PRESENTATION. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. UM, GOOD EVENING. MY NAME IS MIKE HOL CAMP. I'M WITH HAGERMAN CONSTRUCTION, AND I WANT TO, UM, SAY GOOD EVENING TO MR. MAPES AND LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE SCHOOL BOARD. UM, WE'RE A LOCAL BASED, UM, CONSTRUCTION COMPANY HERE IN FISHERS. AND WITH ME THIS EVENING IS JOEL FLEMING, WHO'S OUR PROJECT MANAGER. SO FIRST OFF THE AWARD. AS YOU MAY KNOW, LAST YEAR WE COMPLETED AN ADDITION OF RENOVATION TO THE HSE FALL CREEK JUNIOR HIGH. WE THEN SUBMITTED THE PROJECT AND WON AN AWARD FROM THE INDIANA SUBCONTRACTOR ASSOCIATION. THIS AWARD MEANT A LOT TO US BECAUSE IT WAS VOTED ON BY OUR PEERS FOR A MAJOR RENOVATION WORK THAT WE DID HERE IN OUR BACKYARD FOR A CLIENT FOR LIFE UHSE. UM, HAGERMAN WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THIS AWARD WITH YOU THIS EVENING IN HOPES YOU'LL DISPLAY IT PROUDLY. AND, UM, SECONDLY, WE WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THE, THE WORK ON ALL THE PAST PROJECTS AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORK WITH YOU IN THE FUTURE. SO WITH THAT, JOEL'S GONNA PRESENT THE TROPHY TO MATT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. WE WILL [3. Public Comment] NOW MOVE ON TO 3.01 PUBLIC COMMENTS, AND WE HAVE TWO PEOPLE WHO HAVE SIGNED UP. UM, FIRST UP BE ALYSSA ROBERTS. UM, PLEASE BE ADVISED YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES TO SPEAK AND PLEASE ADDRESS THE ENTIRE BOARD. HI, THANK YOU. UM, I'M HERE TO SPEAK QUICKLY ON THE TAG GRANT AND MAKE SURE TO REALLY ENCOURAGE THAT ALL PEOPLE WHO DESERVE THEIR COMPENSATION FOR THEIR HARD WORK IN OUR DISTRICT IS RECOGNIZED. MAINLY BECAUSE, AS I'VE SAID MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE, WHEN I'VE COME BEFORE YOU, EDUCATOR WORKING CONDITIONS, OUR STUDENT LEARNING CONDITIONS, WE HAVE TO START WITH THE TEACHERS TO ENSURE SUCCESS IN OUR DISTRICT. AND I THINK IT'S VERY, VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT HOW EDUCATORS FEEL ABOUT THEIR WORKING CONDITIONS IS AN INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF THIS DISTRICT. IT'S HISTORICALLY KNOWN FOR REALLY POSITIVE OUTCOMES. AND I JUST WANNA SEE THAT CONTINUE. THANKS. THANK YOU. NEXT UP IS STEPHANIE HUNT SCHOOL BOARD. AND MR. MAPES, I'M HERE TONIGHT TO SPEAK UP FOR OUR TEACHERS AND STAFF WHO HAVE MADE IT CLEAR. THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS TAKEN THE BOARD'S LEAD AND SPREAD THE TOXIC WORK ENVIRONMENT FROM THIS BUILDING TO OUR SCHOOLS. WE HAVE BEEN LOSING BRILLIANT TEACHERS AND STAFF LEFT AND RIGHT SINCE YOU TOOK THESE SEATS A YEAR AGO. NOW YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED YOUR MISSION OF WHITEWASHING THE MAIN ADMINISTRATION. SHOCKINGLY GETTING RID OF KATIE DOWLING IN AN UNDERHANDED AND MALICIOUS MANNER. HIRED THE SUPERINTENDENT'S WIFE TO WORK DIRECTLY WITH OUR TEACHERS BECAUSE THAT'S COMFORTABLE AND APPROPRIATE. AND NOW YOU GO AFTER THE VERY PEOPLE. WE ACTUALLY NEED TO EDUCATE OUR CHILDREN. WE WERE TOLD THIS BOARD HAD THE BEST INTERESTS OF EVERYONE WHEN CHOOSING TO HIRE MR. MAPES. WE HEARD IN AN INTERVIEW THAT THIS ADMINISTRATION WAS GOING TO BE FULLY TRANSPARENT AND THEY DON'T RUN FROM SCANDAL. HOWEVER, SINCE THAT RACHEL FETTE INTERVIEW, YOU REMOVED THE FINAL BLACK ADMINISTRATOR AND KATIE DOWLING IN AN UNDERHANDED MANNER, EVEN AFTER ALL OF HER HARD WORK AND DEDICATION TO THIS DISTRICT THROUGH THE REFERENDUM RENEWAL, MAKING IT SEEM AS IF THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG WHEN THEY HAD NOT. TONIGHT, YOU ARE REPLACING HER WITH A NEW CFO, SHOCKINGLY, A WHITE MAN WITH AN MBA AND NOT AN ACCOUNTANT EITHER. NOW, MR. BROWN. PARDON? ONE SECOND. UM, MADAM PRESIDENT, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT NAME'S NOT BEING MENTIONED. OH, IT'S ON, IT'S ON, IT'S ACTUALLY ABOUT THE, UM, HIRING THE PERSONNEL REPORT. AND I'M TALKING ABOUT THE HIRING OF THE NEW CF. CORRECT. PREVIOUSLY YOU MENTIONED SOMEONE'S NAMES, YOU CAN'T USE NAMES. MY APOLOGIES. MY APOLOGIES. NOW THE NEW CFO HAS DONE NOTHING TO DESERVE MY CONCERN. HOWEVER, THANKS TO THE DIRECTION THAT THINGS HAVE BEEN [00:05:01] GOING WITHIN THE WALLS OF THIS BUILDING AND OUR BOARD, I STRUGGLED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PRESSING NEED WAS TO REPLACE A WOMAN WHO HAD FULLY COMMITTED HERSELF TO THAT POSITION AND OUR DISTRICT. AND SINCE, UNLIKE WHAT WAS SAID IN THAT INTERVIEW, THERE HAS BEEN ZERO TRANSPARENCY FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT AND THIS BOARD. I AM LEFT TO SPECULATE SOME RESPECT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO WERE HERE BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL WOULD GO A LONG WAY. ALL WE HEARD ABOUT BEFORE THE LAST SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION WAS THAT OUR ADMIN TEAM HAD TOO MUCH BLOAT, BUT YET THIS BOARD IS READY AND EAGER TO CREATE NEW POSITIONS AND INCREASE PAY FOR ALL THESE POSITIONS. MAYBE YOU CAN PROVIDE SOME CLARITY AS TO WHY YOU ARE SUDDENLY ON BOARD WITH A TOP HEAVY ADMINISTRATION THAT BY ALL ACCOUNTS APPEARS TO BE BULLYING THE VERY PEOPLE I CARE ABOUT MOST NEXT TO OUR STUDENTS. THE SUDDEN RESIGNATION OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF EXCEPTIONAL LEARNERS, BASICALLY THE LONE SURVIVOR OF THE ADMINISTRATION. THE FACT THIS BOARD WAS REARRANGED TO SIT THE PRESIDENT NEXT TO MR. MAPES, THE REMOVAL OF OUR TEACHER'S ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT FROM HER SPOT AT THE TABLE, A CLEAR ATTEMPT TO PUT THE TEACHERS IN THEIR PLACE. AND THE REMOVAL OF THE FINAL PIECE OF THE LAST ADMIN MAKES IT CLEAR WHO IS REALLY RUNNING THIS SHOW. ODDLY, I WAS PRETTY CERTAIN THE BOARD WAS A SUPERINTENDENT'S BOSS. AT LEAST YOU ALL DID A GREAT JOB OF REMINDING DR. STOKES OF THAT DURING HER SHORT TERM BEING DISRESPECTED. THANK YOU. [4. Consent Agenda] WE WILL NOW MOVE ON TO THE CONSENT AGENDA, WHICH INCLUDES, UH, 4.01, 4.02, 4.3 4 0 4, 4 0.05, 4.06, AND 4.07.
