SO TONIGHT I'M EXCITED TO INTRODUCE TWO SWIMMERS FROM FISHERS HIGH SCHOOL WHO WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THEIR RECENT OLYMPIC DREAM ASKS THEY BOTH SWAM TO TRY TO GET A SPOT ON THE OLYMPIC TEAM THIS YEAR AND BOTH DID REALLY WELL. SO COACH COME ON UP TO TALK ABOUT THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS AND WHERE THEY'RE GOING NEXT.

>> THANK YOU EMILY. AND I WANT TO THANK DR. STOKES AND ALSO THE BOARD FOR ALLOWING ME TO OPPORTUNITY TO BE HERE TONIGHT TO SPEAK WITH YOU AND TO ALSO PRESENT SOME OUTSTANDING SUCCESS THAT WE HAVE HAD HERE RECENTLY IN THE POOL.

AND WITH TWO OF OUR OUTSTANDING STUDENT ATHLETES.

AND ALSO PEOPLE AS WELL. I HAVE HAVE ME SENIOR KYLE PONZLER AND JUNIOR JOJO RAMIE.

>> OF COURSE LAST NIGHT I ASKED THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY DRESSED IN A PRESENTABLE MANNER AND ONE OF THEIR PARENTS CONTACTED ME AND SAID SHOULD THEY WEAR THEIR NATIONAL TEAM GEAR AND I SAID THAT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE.

SO THEY WERE THINKING MORE THAN I WAS.

BUT AS I SAID KYLE IS A SENIOR AT FISHERS HIGH SCHOOL AND JOJO IS A JUNIOR AND I KNOW WE'RE AT A TALKING OLYMPIC EXCESS BUT BOTH OF THOSE ATHLETES HAVE BEEN COMMITTED, DEBT DID INDICATED TO THEIR EFFORTS OVER NUMEROUS YEARS IN THE FISHERS SWIM PROGRAM AND ALSO THEY'VE ASPIRED TO THEIR SUCCESS AND BE ABLE TO COMPETE IN OLYMPIC TRIALS AND TRY TO FULFILL THOSE DREAMS OF BECOMING AN OLYMPIAN WHETHER THAT BE 2024 OR 2028.

BUT THEIR TIME HERE AT FISHERS THIS SPRING.

BOTH OF THEM LED THEIR HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS TO THE HIGH SCHOOL STATE RUNNER-TO CAR MEL SO IN SOME WAYS IT'S LIKE GETTING FIRST. BUT ULTIMATELY BOTH OF THEM REALLY BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE THAT THEY ARE, THE ATHLETES THAT THEY HAVE BECOME, THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT THEY DISPLAY REALLY HAVE LED OUR TEAM, OUR HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM TO THIS SUCCESS THAT THEY'VE HAD. SO WHEN I ARRIVED HERE FOUR YEARS AGO, WE HAD ZERO ATHLETES THAT WERE COMPLETING AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL AT THAT TIME. NO ONE AT THE JUNIOR NATIONAL LEVEL. AND THESE TWO HAVE HELPED LEAD THAT TO WHERE NOW WE HAVE SIX ATHLETES THAT ARE COMPETING AT THAT LEVEL. AND THE SUCCESS THIS THESE TWO HAVE HAD DAY IN AND DAY OUT HAVE IN SPIRED MANY OF OUR OTHER ATHLETES TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS AS WELL.

JOJO AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DECEMBER OF 2019, BECAME THE AT THAT TIME WAS THE YOUNGEST PERSON TO QUALIFY FOR THE OLYMPIC TRIALS FOR WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 2020, OBVIOUSLY, AND THEN KYLE HE ACHIEVED HIS OLYMPIC TRIALS TIME STANDARD, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IN NOVEMBER OF 2020.

SO REALLY CAN YOU KUDOS TO HIM COMING OFF THE ADJUSTMENTS AND SCHEDULES AND TIME OFF TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT, COMING IN THAT

FINAL HOUR TO QUALIFY. BUT BOTH OF THEM HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SWIM IN OLYMPIC TRIALS HERE THIS SUMMER AND BECAUSE OF CHANGES IN PROTOCOLAR THE OLYMPIC TRIALS WAS NOT A COMBINED MEET THIS YEAR, IT HAVE SEPARATED INTO TWO MEETS A WAVE ONE ASK WAVE TWO. AND IN KYLE'S TIME STANDARD QUALIFIED HIM FOR WAVE ONE AND THEN HE PLACEDDED SECOND AND THE TOP TWO ATHLETES IN EACH RACE WERE ABLE TO THEN ADVANCE TO WAVE TWO OF OLYMPIC TRIALS. HE ENDED UP FROM THE OUTSIDE LANE HE QUALIFIED EIGHTH FROM PRELIMINARIES AND HE ENDED UP GETTING SECOND AFTER FINALS. SO JUST A REALLY IN SPIRING AND MOTIVATING RACE AND ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR HIMSELF.

AND QUALIFYING FOR WAVE TWO. AND SO HE CAME HOME FOR A COUPLE DAYS, WENT BACK, AND THEN SWAM THE WAVE TWO TRIALS.

AND JOJO QUALIFIED FOR WAVE TWO. SHE SWAM THE 100-YARD BACKSTROKE AND THE 200-YARD BACKSTROKE. THE HUNDRED BACKSTROKE WAS A LITTLE SURPRISE TO US IN THAT SHE QUALIFIED FROM PRELIMINARY TO THE SEMIFINALS AND ENDED UP PLACING IN THE TOP 16 WHICH WAS NOT REALLY WHAT WE HAD EXPECTED BUT THAT LED TO GREAT THINGS WITH THE 200 BACKSTROKE WHICH WAS LATER IN THE WEEK, HER PRIMARY EVENT AND SHE ENDED UP PLACING IN THE TOP EIGHT.

SO SHE FINALLED IN OLYMPIC TRIALS AS A 16-YEAR-OLD.

AND WITH THAT BOTH OF THESE ATHLETES IN THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT THE MEET, KYLE ENDED UP BEING THE SECOND FASTST 18 AND UNDER IN THE UNITED STATES AND JOJO HAD THE FASTEST TIME IN THE 100-YARD BACKSTROKE AND THE 200-YARD BACKSTROKE FOR ALL 18 AND UNDERS IN THE U.S.

BECAUSE OF THAT THEN THEY HAVE NOW QUALIFIED FOR THE FENA WORLD CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS SO THEY'RE GOING TO BE TAKING A COUPLE DAYS OFF SCHOOL AND SO THEY WILL BE LEAVING ON SEPTEMBER 28 AND THEY WILL COMPETE IN BERLIN GERMANY ON ON THE ONE AND THREE AND THEN THEY WILL TRAVEL TO BUDAPEST AND THEY WILL COMPETE THERE OCTOBER 7 TO THE NINTH. SO THEY'LL BE A PART OF OF AN 18 AND UNDER CONTINGENT THAT WILL REPRESENT THE UNITED STATES IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION. SO PRETTY AWESOME ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CURRENTLY KYLE IS RANKED TOP 75 IN THE WORLD AGAINST ALL THE MEN. SO AND IN ADDITION TO THAT HE SHOULD -- WE WILL KNOW SOON BUT WE'RE PRETTY SERVE HE'LL QUALIFY FOR THE NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM, AND JOJO IS CURRENTLY RANKED IN THE 200 BACKSTROKE, SIXTH IN THE UNITED STATES AND ALSO 17TH -- 16TH OR 17TH, I CAN'T REMEMBER ACTUALLY IN THE WORLD AMONGST ALL COMPETITORS IN THE 200-METER BACKSTROKE.

AND SO SHE WILL BE OUR FIRST ATHLETE TO QUANTIFY FOR THE NATIONAL TEAM AND WHAT IS TRADITION IS THAT SOMEWHERE AROUND 30 TO 40 PERCENT OF THOSE ATHLETES TYPICALLY AFTER THEY'VE BEEN ON THE NATIONAL TEAM QUALIFY FOR THE NEXT OLYMPICS.

SO NO PRESSURE. BUT THEY'RE OUTSTANDING PEOPLE, OUTSTANDING STUDENT ATHLETES AND NO DOUBT GREAT REPRESENTATIVES OF FISHERS HIGH SCHOOL AND THE SCHOOL CORPORATION, AND JOJO BROUGHT HER OLYMPIC TRIALS FINAL MEDAL WITH HER.

SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT.

AS YOU ALL ARE AWARE WE HAVE A NEW SCHOOL DEER CREEK ELEMENTARY THAT'S UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP.

A BOUNDARY MODIFICATION IS GOING TO BE NECESSARY IN PREPARATION OF THE OPENING OF DEER CREEK ELEMENTARY WHICH IS SLATED FOR THE FALL OF THE 22/23 SCHOOL YEAR.

THIS AGREEMENT IS ONE PIECE OF INFORMATION WE'VE GATHERED THUS FAR AND HAVE VETTED THROUGH OUR LEGAL PROCESS.

WE'RE GATHERING OTHER INFORMATION TO ASSIST US AS A DISTRICT, WE HAVE A COMMITTEE OF DETERMINING NEXT STEPS.

SOME OF THE INFORMATION THAT WE'RE OBTAINING IS ON COMPANIES THE DISTRICT HAS DONE WORK WITH IN THE PAST FOR THIS PURPOSE, CHEQUE WITH OTHER DISTRICTS IN THE AREA WHO'VE RECENTLY GONE THROUGH THIS TYPE OF PROCESS AS WELL AS CHECKING REFERENCE OF THOSE WITH COULD POTENTIALLY BE WORKING WITH.

WE'RE ALSO LOOKING AT ALL THE FACTORS THAT IMPACT OUR ENROLLMENT SUCH AS EXISTING HOME TURNOVER, HOME CONSTRUCTION, ECONOMIC IMPACT ASKS OTHER RELATED INFORMATION THAT WE CAN GATHER. WE HAVE PREVIOUSLY UTILIZEED [INDISCERNIBLE] STRATEGIES FOR BOUNDARY MODIFICATIONS.

WE'VE USED THEM FOR SOME STUDENT PROJECTIONS BUT HAVE UTILIZED MCKINNEN DEMOGRAPHICS FOR THE ACTUAL DEMOGRAPHIC STUDY.

WE HAVE ASKED COOPERATOR STRATEGIES SO WE CAN SEE THE TRUE COST OF HAVING INNOVATION OF THIS NATURE DONE.

THE PROPOSAL THEY HAVE SUBMITTED AND I SAY PROPOSAL BECAUSE THAT'S ALL IT IS AT THIS TIME IS VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT WE EXPELLEDDED THE LAST TIME WE WENT THROUGH THIS PROCESS WITH A DIFFERENT SCHOOL THIS. PROPOSAL INFORMATION WAS SHARE WITH THE BOARD AND DR. STOKES AS AN UPDATE AS WE ARE IN THE DEER CREEK OPENING BOUNDARY PROCESS. HOWEVER NO FINAL DIRECTION HAS BEEN CHOSEN AT THIS TIME. WE'RE NOT REQUESTING THAT AT ALL THIS EVENING. A RECOMMENDATION THE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED TO DR. STOKES AND THE BOARD AT THE NEXT BOARD MEETING OR WHEN IT IS READY TO BE SUBMITTED FOR

I THINK WITHIN A SPAN OF FIVE OF THOSE YEAR.

THIS MAKES LITTLE SENSE AS WE ARE IN THE SLOWER GROWING SOUTHWEST PORTION OF THE DISTRICT F. A CHILD COULD BE ZONED FOR THREE DIFFERENT SCHOOLS DURING THEIR K THROUGH FOUR ELEMENTARY YEARS YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

THEY MOVED ELEMENTARY STUDENTS FROM OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SOUTH OF 116TH STREET TO HARRISON PARK ELEMENTARY.

THERE ARE TWO IF NOT THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS CLOSER THAN WITH ONE WE ARE NOW ASSIGNED TO. I BELIEVE THEY JUSTIFIED SOME OF THE REDRAWN BOUNDARIES BASED ON NOT WANTING BUSS AND PARENT HAVING THE CROSS HIGHWAY 37 DURING THE CONSTRUCTION AND MADE SOME STRANGE SHIFTS BUT I WOULD THINK AT SOME POINT A FAMILY COULD EXPECT TO GET A CHILD THROUGH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITHOUT BEING REARE DISTRICTED. I'M NOT SURE WHERE THE DISTRICT HAS A TOUGH TIME FIGURING OUT WROTE THE GROWTH WILL BE AND BUILDING THE ANTICIPATED GROWTH INTO PLANS.

FOR EXAMPLE IN FAST GROWING YOURS HAVE BUILDINGS UNDER THEIR CAPACITY SO THEY CAN ABSORB THE GROWTH OR POLYAPE SIGN PAIRED SCHOOLS THAT CAN SHIFT A NEIGHBORHOOD IF NEEDED WITHOUT HAVING TO DO DISTRICT WIDE REDISTRICTING.

IT STRIKES ME THIS MAY BE THE SAME CONSULTING FIRM USED DURING THE LAST REDISTRICTING AND POSSIBLY RIGHTERTH PRIOR TO THAT. MY WE ILL LIKE TO EMPLOYMENT HON OUR ITEM APPEAR ON THE BOARD MEETING AGENDA. THIS ITEM IS LISTED AT COOPERATIVE STRATEGIES AGREEMENT WHICH CAN BE ANYTHING.
